Welcome to UNO Student Health Services

We are committed to providing quality health care and professional service to those who are in need.

As a university student health clinic, we are also commited to educating and counseling the student body in areas of prevention and healthy living for the time they spend at UNO and beyond when they graduate from this institution.

From the Director of Student Health Services:

The UNO Student Heath Services provides health care to all students including disabled and international. The clinic is staffed with internal medicine / pediatric physicians, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, a health educator, and a pharmacist. Student Health Services is a comprehensive medical clinic, offering gynecological exams, sexually transmitted disease testing, physical exams, basic first aid, birth control, and maintenance of chronic illness (diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, etc...) and treatment of minor ailments.

The health educator provides pre and post test counseling for HIV. In addition smoking cessation, nutrition and stress management programs are offered. The pharmacy supplies medications (prescription and over the counter) at a discounted rate for the UNO community. We serve as a resource for health outreach programs and basic health education for the UNO community. While our main goal is to provide preventive and adequate healthcare to the UNO students, we also offer immunizations to faculty and staff for a fee.

Dr. B., Lo Medical Director, and all of the staff wish you a healthy and successful semester.

Sincerely,
Denise G. Perez, Director
Student Health Services

About UNO Student Health Services

All students enrolled at UNO have access to Student Health Services, regardless of whether or not they have insurance of any kind.

The professionals in the UNO Student Health Services office provide primary care for a variety of services as well as more specialized long-term care and health maintenance when necessary. Some of these treatments and services include:

  • treatment of injuries and illnesses such as sprains, scrapes and infections.
  • immunizations
  • health education counseling in areas such as smoking cessation, health living, sexually transmitted diseases, safe partying and other behavior based health issues. Additionally, UNO SHS works hand-in-hand with UNO Student Counseling to make appropriate referrals when necessary.
  • confidential testing and treatment for STD's

Services for students are covered by a health fee equal to 2% of tuition. There are modest charges for lab fees..

The UNO Pharmacy provides greatly reduced costs for prescription medication and can fill most prescriptions that students may have. The UNO Pharmacy is not just limited to UNO SHS prescriptions either, you can bring in any prescription for services.
